Surgical and scientific exchange: looking back on June 2026
Today, while preparing for my next visit to Tokyo Medical University Hospital, I found myself thinking back to an intense week of surgical and scientific exchange in June 2026, with presentations in Sinaia, Lucerne and Paris/Versailles.
In busy clinical practice, it is not always easy to make time for scientific work and educational visits. But these experiences are worth it: they broaden perspective, challenge routine and help us continue to grow as surgeons.
I am especially grateful to Prof Paul M Schneider, Peter Grimminger and Prof DAIKO HIROYUKI for their teaching, trust and continued collaboration. Much of what I was able to present during that week grew out of this shared clinical and scientific work.
