ISDE World Congress 2025 in Brisbane — oesophageal surgery in international exchange

The ISDE World Congress for Esophageal Diseases (18-20 September 2025) in Brisbane was an invaluable opportunity to exchange insights on oesophageal cancer treatment strategies, technical innovations, operative tips and tricks, and postoperative management with colleagues from Asia, the Americas, Australia and Europe.

Direct transfer into clinical practice

I am already integrating some of these insights into my clinical practice at Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich, Switzerland.

SP-RACE results from Mainz presented

It was a privilege not only to share results from our single-port (SP) procedures conducted at the Universitätsmedizin Mainz (University Medical Center Mainz), but also to learn from such a distinguished international community. The exchange around pain trajectories and postoperative outcomes following SP-RACE (Single-Port-Robotic-Assisted Cervical Esophagectomy) was particularly illuminating.
